Running with Typefaces
Graphic design...awesome. Running...also awesome. Combining the two...simply amazing. Adam Scott was smart and creative enough to intertwine his love for graphic design and running. When he was assigned a typeface project, he took it outdoors. I can't stop thinking about how brilliant this idea was, and at the same time wonder why I didn't think if it.
This collision in like a dream come true for me, especially when school is in session and my training season for triathlons are coinciding. Scott did a great job not only at finding an alphabet in nature while running, but combining it with the stats from those runs in a typographical way. He uses color to connect the two pieces. The map of the run with the time, distance, elevation, etc. of the run show that the two work better together then alone. And, neither over powers the other, they coexist. What do you think?
This project makes me want to explore the roads by my house and see what letters I can come up with. Maybe I can get numbers in there too. And shapes, like a smile or a heart or a star! Okay maybe I am getting a little ambitious...but you never know. First things is first though, I have to lace up my shoes and get to running again. So, who's coming with me, who wants to go out and explore natures ABCs? I'm looking for a "T" first. :)
