Brooklyn take two. More food, more art, and friends.

The Pursuit of Happiness : 2.216

A successful day  in Brooklyn and LES. So many walls. So much food. I love it all. Here are a few (OK a bunch) of my faves from today.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.192

A little early, but since Brenden is working at night tomorrow, we decided to celebrate chili day today! We made a lentil chili and it was oh so good, and pretty easy, which makes it even better. We sautéed onion and red pepper, then added garlic and chili powder. After that we cooked together lentils, tomatoes, broth and a bay leaf. After the lentils were soft we removed the bay leaf, pureed some of the chili and added salt, pepper, chipotle chile powder, and red pepper flakes until al the tastes were perfectly balanced. I garnished mine with avocado and cheese and Brenden with sour cream. Yummy in our tummy.

Also, my cousin Jared sent me a picture of there new restaurant signs -- my logo light up and shinning bright on H Street in DC, It looks amazing and a feel so good about it.

Such a fun day, and I am so proud of myself for making it happen! I navigated Baltimore on my own to attend a letterpress Valentine's Day card making workshop, held by Baltimore Print Studios. I have been wanting to go there for at least a year, and I finally made it. Naturally, I can't wait to go back and take the class they offer, to learn so much more. The studio and experience were unique and colorful. I love the cards I made, even though V-day is probably my least favorite holiday. And bonus, BPS instagramed one of my cards as one of their favorites from the day! Woot, woot, that was such a confidence boost for me, and made me feel like my design skills are on par.

The fun didn't stop there. Baltimore Restaurant Week was extended due, to the snow a couple weeks ago, and so I tried a restaurant. I have been wanting to try so many of the participating places, and I figured being in Baltimore, this was my chance even if I was alone. Again, I made my way through Baltimore, and reached the Lebanese Taverna with ease. It was so worth it! I got the falafel platter and pumpkin kibbeh combo they offered for the occasion. Omg. I will definitely be going back. The hummus; the pita with za'atar seasoned oil; the kibbeh, everything -- amazing! I will definitely being going back, and bringing Brenden along. Also, I am so incorporating za'atar into everything I make from now on (okay, probably not everything, as you'll figure in my next paragraph, but certainly a lot of my staples). I will let you know how it goes!

Finally, Brenden and I made a cake. Well we are making a cake. And it is going to be fabulous. It is late and we have to let it cool before frosting, so pictures on that tomorrow. The cake pieces we tried after leveling were so delicious. I can hardly wait to take a slice of the final product tomorrow.

A quiet day of reading and spending time with Brendo, doing what we do best: playing typography scrabble, making dinner (sweet corn chowda, yum), and watching red box, of course!

So excited to have received my push pin map tonight! I have ben wanting this for forever. And it is so nice. Now to start pinning and hang it up for the world to see (or maybe just anyone who comes to my apartment).

1. After searching the internet for a while with no success, I decided to make my own, simple 2016 year-at-a-glance calendar. It's just to my liking, and I am super excited to start using it in less then a month. It will definitely help me keep track of all my dates at work.

2. It's already the fifth night of Hanukkah, but I finally (and excitedly) heard the Adam Sandler Hanukkah song on the radio. So great; it never gets old, and it makes my Hanukkah feel much more complete. And, because it's great, I listened to the new version on youtube to continue the celebration.

3. I spent another part of my evening with my mom -- lighting the menorah, exchanging gifts (I got a Cinderella designed memory box), and puzzling. I am so, so close to being done. I finished the waves and now only have the water, and a handful of pieces, left.

4. Being productive feels great! I've been cooking and cleaning and doing all the things. Tonight I was pumped to make a chicken ramen soup that I've been dying to check off my list. It turned out a tad salty for my taste, but it has definite potential. I also have to work on my soft egg making. But I still had no problems gobbling it all up. Nomnomnom.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.88

I started my day out with an early morning swim. Then I opened the packaged I received from my friend Keia (aka. Presence and Grace), and was super excited to find a beautifully designed weekly planner. Now I can keep track of my to-do-lists and deadlines in style.

A very chill day: testing my new make up  |  picking up my race packet at the expo for the 10K Across the Bay tomorrow  |  taking pictures of the street art in Annapolis; chickens everywhere  |  eating brunch/lunch at Miss. Shirley's (I've been wanting to try Miss. Shirley's for months, and it lived up to my expectations -- those biscuits, mmm!)  |  walking around downtown Annapolis, enjoying cookies and sweets and postcards

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.69

Excited it is Friday.

It consisted of:

• Driving past pretty fall foliage in the morning sunlight.
• A giant Minion balloon.
• Getting to make my man's day with a surprise visit to work and present.
• "Boorito's" and other pleasing typography.

Without a down, this web launch has been the most excited I have been in a while. Today, the website I have been working on for over a year at work went live. We are officially baltimorehebrew.org and it is fabulous…if I say so myself, and I do. Today was a whirlwind of nerves, excitement and happiness. Not only did the launch go swimmingly, but Andy and I got to sport our web launch shirts as project managers, and we were given flowers in appreciation. And anyone who knows me, knows I love flowers, especially sunflowers. So check out the site because we have all worked really hard on it! And, enjoy the photo-story recap of the launch.

Oh and also a happy that can't be left out, Brenden surprised me with a tablet. Woo - - off to go play on it now :).
