The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.78
A roadtrip to NYC to visit my cousin Geri, watch the NYC Marathon, get makeovers at Macy's, walk the High Line, look at street art, and eat delicious food including falafel and sushi. A packed day of fun, what's not to like?!
The Marathon: We went to see the runner's run and cheer them on. The first finishers were crazy fast and the crowd spirit was wonderful. I made a sign for our cousin to cheer her on during her last mile...hopefully she saw it because we didn't see her.
Makeovers: After the marathon we went to lunch for really great falafels and then got makeovers at Macy's. I learned some new make up tricks and got to feel beautiful on my face for the rest of the day.
The High Line: I am in love with this place. The High Line is a park/walkway/hang out area that was repurposed from old railway tracks. Trains + a park + art work = amaze-balls! It is just fantastic and lovely. It's like stepping out of New York while still inside it. You have all the peace of not being in the city, with little bits and pieces of city life interacting with the space every few inches to remind you where you are. Graffiti on the outer walls and transformed into art exhibits are intertwined with fresh plants and blooming gardens.; busy city streets with loud honking cars rushing below the clean walkways and calm benches for relaxing and taking in the scenery. We got there as the sun was setting and the colors were just gorgeous. I definitely have to go back during the day to see all the plants and things I missed after it got dark.
More Street Art: Throughout the metro station on 14th street I was finding street art all over the place. I'm kind of obsessed if you couldn't tell.
Sushi: Finished the evening with another delicious meal, this time of sushi, thanks to my cousin. Everything was just scrumptious and different. We got tuna guacamole!! Seriously, two of my favorite foods mixed together. I mean really, what could go wrong? That's right, nothing! My stomach is so happy. We also got miso soup, and I got this roll including tempura eel, avocado, skirt steak and shrimp. I could eat this every day!

It was a packed day, but it was filled with wonderful.
Aside for the selfie- this was a truly fun weekend. So glad you were able to come up on such short notice. Thank your boss for me for giving you the day off.
