Thought...Idea...CONCEPT

Got Milk?

The first ad campaign I thought of when thinking of concepts was the Got Milk? campaign. A pretty well known ad campaign. They are known for both there slogan, "Got Milk?" and the advertisements of celebrities with a milk mustache. So what was the originating thought that led to the originating concept that led to the entire campaign. I guess only the creators will truly know the answer to this, but based on some information I read on the Got Milk? campaign website, I have gathered that the campaign began in 1993, in order to promote people to drink milk. During this time, milk was competing with newer drinks with more sugar such as fruit juices, teas, and lemonades. Thus, I am guessing a beginning thought was how to get people to have and want milk, which then develop into a concept which now stands as there slogan. As for the photographs that now accompany the slogan, I would guess it began with thinking about what happens when drinking milk. A general similarity is the infamous milk mustache. I am sure that then developed into having celebrities pose with them because those are people the general public admire and tend to want to be like. All in all it seems that many ideas went in to make this one great concept that has become famous and perusing for almost 2 decades.

Prius Family

I also thought of a more recent campaign, the Prius family - "There's a Prius for everyone. Like the Got Milk? Campaign I am sure that this one got started based on a variety of ideas and aspects about the cars and the times. A few I can think of is advertising them as family cars, wanting to show they all four of these cars are both similar and different just as family members, and the fact that the name Prius has the word, "US" within it, again drawing the family as being an us. Again all of these factors and thoughts, plus  more I am sure, led up to this one concept that created an advertising campaign and multiple advertisements to go along with it.
