I swam and and I ran today.

Then I adventured to Washington, DC, with Lauren, where I explored the National Postal Museum for the first time. I went for the Postsecret Exhibit, but found the entire museum to be totally awesome. They had a stamp display where we got to see all kinds of stamps, pick out a few old ones "to start our own stamp collection," and even "make" our own stamps (sadly mine never got emailed to me, and I didn't think to take a photo of it on the screen :(. Mine was awesome though, let's just say it involved my face and an elephant. I know; tragedy it didn't send, and maybe slightly ironic since it was from the postal museum?!) I will definitely need to go back for a more extended visit.

Got "save the date" number 3 today. DJ and Shane are getting married! So exciting :)

YAY, so pretty!
And in spirit of DJ's wedding announcement I decided to make the salad she told me about the other day. I am slightly obsessed with it now. It is so delicious and fresh tasting, just like summer - which is probably why she calls it her "Summer Salad." And it is so simple too, like all of my favorite recipes. Make one serving, serve a family of four, bring it to a party, or prepare enough to last you the week, there are no exact measurements so you can't go wrong with this. (NOTE: the salad looks best fresh; the avocado tends to brown and the salad will get a bit watery as time goes on…but it still tastes amazing.)

as it looks. I love all the vibrant color in this salad.
Here's how to make your perfect Summer Salad: Just chop into cubes the amount you want of tomatoes, avocado, onion, fresh mozzarella cheese, and basil (tonight I decided to add some cucumber and deli turkey for a smidgen of protein). Then drizzle a bit of extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle some salt (or pour it on if you are any of my friends) over the salad and mix together. It may seem like pretty lax directions, but honestly that is it. I promise! It is totally fool proof and pretty much no matter what you do it will taste great! In fact, I think my dad mixed my left overs with some tuna salad and gobbled it all up. Maybe I'll try adding some bell pepper next time. Mmmmm :)

I got mail from one of my best friends today. It was the "save the date" for her wedding next year! So happy and excited for her :).

So pretty! Also totally awesome to have another piece of mail address to Brenden AND me :D!

I received the glass bead I made (at the Corning Museum of Glass) for my Pandora bracelet in the mail today! I am excited by how quick it was and to add it to my bracelet :).

Sorry the photograph is so blurry, but you get the gist. It is made from clear glass
and translucent purple glass swirled together, with blue glass dotted/swirled on top.

The Pursuit Of Happiness - Entry #60

Got my (our) first letter addressed and mailed to me and Brenden, kind of cool and a little exciting. Plus, it was a "Save the Date" for my friends wedding that she designed herself, which makes it that much more awesome.

I guess if it wasn't official the last 2.5 years, Brenden and
my relationship is now "written in [pen]"
Pretty, pretty, pretty! And, of course a very fitting design (sorry it is blurry,
my phone camera sucks - haven't graduated to the smartphone age just yet...)
Also, made my first post on my classes web blog about design. Check it out and feel free to follow our discussions here. We will have ongoing discussions about different design related topics and class projects. I can already tell it is going to very interesting and a blast.
