Measuring the Universe if a gallery at Tate in St. Ives. The video below discusses and shows the exhibit. The artist, Roman Ondak, began his exhibit with a blank wall. As the days of the exhibit passed, people were asked to take a black marker and mark their height on the wall. Over 90,000 people contributed to this exhibit, turning the empty black wall into a constellation of marks from visitors. "Through the simple action of measuring oneself, Ondak's work doesn't just expand on ideas of space and the universe but also the personal, creating a growing living artwork that questions just what a museum if for." I think that this is such a fascinating concept and it truly intrigues me. It is mesmerizing to see what the exhibit transforms into and how many people take pride in contributing to it. I wonder where my black mark would be on this wall. Where would yours be?
