The Pursuit Of Happiness: Week In Review

Saturday (313)
My first triathlon of the season has come and gone, and I am pretty happy it. I did the Philly Trirock. And I did it with Rachel, my race running buddy. I've never actually done a triathlon with a friend, and while we were only together during the start and finish line festival, it was great to have another person I knew racing with me. We waved and cheered each other on whenever we saw each other throughout the course, which was a real spirit lifter.

I ended up meeting just about all my goals: finishing the triathlon without having to stop, placing 5th in my age group, finishing in 1:39 (under 1:45). And I felt great doing it.

After we perused the finish line festival and celebrated our victories, we went back to our hotel to clean up a bit before hitting downtown Philly. And can we just say I love food and I love art, oh and I love food. We visited the Magic Gardens which was not quite what I had imagined but still super interesting. Then we went to Dizengoff for hummus and Hai St Kitchen for sushirritos. Oh my tummy was thanking me. And with full stomachs and high spirits we headed back home.

Sunday (314)
The day after a race is usually a rather slow paced. I have every intention of staying on the exercise induced high, but my sore but typically has other plans. So in typical fashion, I did a small workout before spending the rest of the day relaxing, recovering and trying new pizza with Brenden. We tried Pie Five, which I have been wanting to check out for a few months. We all no Brenden is the pickiest when it comes to pizza, so any chance to find a place he loves in Maryland I will take. Well, he won't be having an affair with this place, but we will more then likely going back. It was quick; it was easily and inexpensively customizable (to my liking); it was thin crust, and it tasted delicious. Oh and then we treated ourselves to a milkshake and ice cream sandwich at Meadows. I guess it was a bit opposite of my original plan, but it made me just a happy, in a different way.

Monday (315)
Remember that tent we so excitedly bought almost a year ago. Remember we set it up in our living room. Well then we took it down, and put it in the closet, and now it is 10 months later. Well, Brenden set it up again, and outside this time! In a backyard to be exact, but hey, we are making progress. He wanted to test it outdoors, in the elements before we took it out for real camping. Which, makes sense. So I meant Brenden in the tent after work. I brought snacks and he showed me how to play his Nintendo DS and we chit chatted and laughed away. It was quite lovey -- a perfect evening I'd say.

Tuesday (316)
Oh man I love this tent more then I thought I would. I came home from a long day of work amidst a  torrential downpour of rain, to find Brenden "trapped" in the tent. Of course I did the only feasible thing and ran out to join him. There we laid for the next half an hour listening to the rain fall and watching the outline of water droplets roll off the rain cover. It was surprising blissful and totally relaxing. Who would have thunk it. We finally headed inside as the rain slowed and the sun came out immediately. We spent the rest of the evening enjoying our relaxed-selves, drinking hot chocolate, watching the newest episode of UnREAL and then PLL, of course (because it's Tuesday).

Wednesday (317)
The Olympic trials for swimming are here. And they are fascinating to watch (especially Michael Phelps infamous arm slap before his race. He was only awhile body length ahead on the 200m fly, per usual.

Thursday (318)
My man Chuck (aka. Zachary Levi) is in a play that he got a Tony for. And I got to stream it live. And once I got it to work, it was quite amusing and very good. That plus making some top notch vanilla bean ice cream and lox spring rolls (not to be eaten together), made for a great night.

Friday (319)
Meeting up with "long-lost" friends always makes for a good time. I am officially on summer hours at work, so I was able to meet my friend Manar for happy hour at pretty delicious taco place in Fells. We haven't seen each other since high school and it was nice to be able to catch up, reminisce, and see where we both were in life. Hopefully we will see each other more.

How was your week? What were some of your daily highlights? Did you complete a race? Meet up with an old friend? Or maybe you took some time to appreciate the small things?
