The Pursuit Of Happiness: Week In Review

Merry Christmas Eve day and happy first night of Hanukah!! This is a week filled with holiday and celebration, and today was just the beginning. How did you spend your first night of Hanukkah/Christmas eve? I spent my day cooking all the things and prepping for a first night of Hanukah gathering with my mom, Rachel, Adam and kiddo, and Brenden. I made eggs in biscuits; I tried my hand at scotch eggs; I whipped up another batch of latkes, and I made one giant cookie for santa, of course. When everyone got to the apartment I was super proud of getting everything looking nice and prepped and super excited to have everyone together. We lit the menorah and ate all the fried food, plus some yummy chicken and salad that Rachel and my mom brought. Then we taught Mariel how to gamble (I mean play dreidel) before she even enters kindergarten, and ate all the chocolate gelt our tummies could handle. We of course exchanged a few presents: Brenden got a record player and Pentatonix vinyl; I got a puzzle, Spanish rosetta stone, a sticker, and some chocolate; my mom got a panda calendar, and Mariel got awesome ninja turtle hand-knitted gloves. It was a lovely start to the festivities to come.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: Week In Review

Maryland's first official snow day (read: ice day) has come. My car was dropped off to get worked on last night, and because of layer of ice coating everything, I didn't want to ask anyone to go out of their way to help me get it when it was ready today. Therefore I was part voluntarily, part involuntarily trapped inside for a true snow day. All was well as I watched listened to the snow and ice fall. I spent the some of the day cleaning the house, but mostly wrapping presents and making envelopes for the holidays cards Brenden and I are planning to send out.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.122

Hanukkah transitions and it's a wonderful time of year. There is no way you can't smile at least once a day with all the holiday cheer and decorations floating around. Tonights holiday celebration and spirit began with the discovery of Google Santa Village.

Next was a Hanukkah dinner as a gift to our Executive Director. We went to Joey Chui's where all the food was fabulous, especially the sushi, and I ate way too much.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.120

I can't believe it is 70 degrees in December. I love the warmth, but something about it just feels strange. Either way, I'm excited it got me out of the house to do a 6-ish mile run today. It felt great, now just to keep it up!

It's also the final night of Hanukkah. I spent it relaxing, lighting the candles with my mom, and spinning driedels. It was another festive and fabulous Hanukkah. Until next year.

Happy Bar Mitzvah cousin Ian! You did great.

Happy seventh night of Hanukkah family and friends! It was another night I was fortunate to light the candles with my mom, and tonight, Lauren on the side lines. Also, I am very excited for the bicycle design mug I received.

Happy day filled with baking with Lauren! Literally, six hours -- s'mores latkes, challah stuffing, and pumpkin cheesecake with a pistachio macaroon crust -- because we have to celebrate all of the Holidays at one time, of course.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.118

Morning Swim Hanukkah Edition. This morning I had a nice eight-nights-of-Hanukkah themed swim workout. It was festive. It was exhausting. It made me smile…when it was over!

For night six, I went shopping with my mom; we had dinner with her friend at my favorite, Su-shi King! (in my dad's chanting tone of voice), and we lit the candles.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.117

1. After searching the internet for a while with no success, I decided to make my own, simple 2016 year-at-a-glance calendar. It's just to my liking, and I am super excited to start using it in less then a month. It will definitely help me keep track of all my dates at work.

2. It's already the fifth night of Hanukkah, but I finally (and excitedly) heard the Adam Sandler Hanukkah song on the radio. So great; it never gets old, and it makes my Hanukkah feel much more complete. And, because it's great, I listened to the new version on youtube to continue the celebration.

3. I spent another part of my evening with my mom -- lighting the menorah, exchanging gifts (I got a Cinderella designed memory box), and puzzling. I am so, so close to being done. I finished the waves and now only have the water, and a handful of pieces, left.

4. Being productive feels great! I've been cooking and cleaning and doing all the things. Tonight I was pumped to make a chicken ramen soup that I've been dying to check off my list. It turned out a tad salty for my taste, but it has definite potential. I also have to work on my soft egg making. But I still had no problems gobbling it all up. Nomnomnom.

On the fourth night of Hanukkah my momma gave to me, a spatula with a big "T." It is super nice, from William Sonoma. I love it. And, I can't wait to use it for baking this weekend!

Happy Hanukkah: Night 3. I spent another fabulous day celebrating the holiday. My day began with a nice, hard workout, which was good because there was a lot of eating and indulging to be had. At work we began celebrating with the first annual Latke Brawl, I organized. I was so excited to find out we had 8 contestants. And everyones latkes were so tasty and creative. It was hard to choose a winner, luckily everyone had a vote, and Celina won with a whooping 7 out of 18 votes.

Happy second night of Hanukkah! The day started out with a good, morning swim. I went to work where I was greeted with an awesome card and presents from my supervisor, including a color wheel umbrella. Too cool! After work, I swung by my mom's house where we lit the menorah. She gave me the best elephant keychain with cute little decorations and it says "be happy." Then we hung out and I continued to work away on my puzzle. I'll be needing a new one soon…ish. I finished the night frying my spicy spaghetti squash latkes, for BHC's 1st annual Latke Brawl.

The Pursuit Of Happiness: 2.113

Happy first night of Hannukah! This year I kicked off the holiday by lighting the menorah with my momma. We exchanged presents and she got me an awesome unicorn mug that was on my wish list. I am super pumped about it; hot chocolate is going to taste even better now.

There was quite a beautiful sunset as I then headed off to my friend Kristina's for a special friends Hanukkah celebration. Aka. hanging out with the gang -- Anna, Jenna, Lauren and Kristina -- talking, and eating all the Jewish food we can think of: latkes and applesauce, brisket and challah, matzoh ball soup, everything pretzel thins and hummus, and chocolate matzoh. Yum, yum, yum.

And then a mini celebration and exchanging gifts for the first night with my love, Brenden.

The Pursuit Of Happiness - Entry #152

Had a yummy lunch of Chick-fil-a when Brenden visited me and brought it to my work today. He also brought me a Hanukkah present for the last day :). He surprised me by getting me a microwavable s'more maker, eek!!! So excited, I freaking loveee s'mores!! Mmmm! It makes two at a time and I can't wait to try it and whip some up for him and me when he comes over next.
